SilvaGrid’s tree hub groups true woody phanerophytes: plants with persistent woody stems, a main trunk and an elevated crown or canopy. This includes deciduous trees, broadleaf evergreens and tree-form conifers across global biomes, while excluding large herbaceous plants that may resemble trees in scale.

Use this hub to explore canopy options for garden planning, urban forestry, planting design, habitat restoration, horticulture and research. Filter the global tree dataset by climate group and WGSRPD native range to identify candidate species, then check local conditions such as soil, mature size, root space, wind exposure and water needs.
