Originating in Temperate Asia and Tropical Asia, Nardostachys jatamansi (commonly known as Indian Nard or Indian Spikenard) is a herbaceous perennial belonging to the Caprifoliaceae family. Within its native range, this species is most commonly linked to subalpine or subarctic conditions. It is the only recognized species within its genus.
